The CF 8×10 to 4×10 Film Inserts are precision CNC-machined from premium aluminium and powder-coated in a black finish.

Designed and developed by Craig Fouché Photography, these patent-pending inserts allow photographers to expose 4×10 panoramic sheet film using standard 8×10 film holders, providing a lightweight, versatile and cost-effective alternative to dedicated 4×10 holders or reducing backs.

The inserts have been extensively tested with Gibellini, Chamonix, Fidelity Elite, Lisco and Toyo 8×10 holders, offering reliable compatibility across the most widely used large format systems.

Each insert measures 250 mm × 50 mm × 3 mm. Precision-machined relief cuts reduce weight while maintaining rigidity, while strategically positioned 9 mm N32 neodymium magnets securely locate each insert without contacting or scratching the film.

Each set contains four inserts, allowing both sides of a standard double-sided 8×10 holder to be loaded with 4×10 film.

It is an ideal solution for photographers who value precision, portability and flexibility in large format photography.

Step 1 — Install the Left Insert

Place the left insert into the 8×10 holder.

Step 2 — Position the Right Insert

Fit the matching insert beneath the holder and close the darkslide.

Step 3 — Load the Film

Position the 4×10 sheet against the secured edge.

Step 4 — Secure the Film

Install the remaining insert to lock the sheet firmly in place before closing the darkslide.

Step 5 — Repeat for Side Two

Turn the holder over and repeat the process for the reverse side.

Step 6 — Ready to Photograph

The film is securely supported, protected from scratches and ready for panoramic large format photography.

Every insert unit is individually manufactured to order.

Production begins with precision CNC machining before progressing through professional powder-coating, laser engraving and a comprehensive quality inspection.

Because each component passes through several specialist manufacturing processes, production typically requires 2–4 weeks, with a maximum lead time of 30 days before dispatch.
