Outdoor Model Shoot - Liezl
It is only from the beginning of 2020 that I have begun to shoot models. Shooting portraits and people is not a new genre to me, that been said I am not intimidated by working with models both in and out of the studio. At present, I am building my portfolio to showcase what I am capable of. I chose to do an outdoor model shoot as the theme lent itself well to the environment, the feel would not have worked as well in a studio. I had planned to shoot on film as well, the light was rather bright for the film I had brought along, and my camera had a maximum shutter speed of 1/1000th of a second. I only shot digital on the day.
Liezl follows me on Instagram, and I got in touch with her to see if she would be keen on a shoot in the vineyards, she accepted and these are the results from that day.
I was looking for an autumn theme, colours that would coincide with the various vineyard cultivars and trees on the farm. The weather in Cape Town was rain, rain, rain, however in The Hex River Valley region, not a drop, but we did have wind which added to the winter chill and feel.
Liezl had a three outfit change, her hair and makeup for the day were done by herself. We first met at my home in Worcester early on Saturday morning, and soon after, left for the shoot location.
I was my first time shooting at this beautiful farm surrounded by such beauty and so much history, and the first time that I had shot with Liezel.
