Sound Into Motion

Music video production is where sound and image collide—where rhythm becomes visual, and energy is translated frame by frame. This project, created in collaboration with drummer Mornay, was built on a shared goal: to showcase both musical and visual craft in a way that feels immersive, raw, and real.

Shot in a stripped-down studio environment at the Hugo Naudé Art Centre, the conditions were far from ideal. Temperatures soared beyond 37°C, no air conditioning, and a full day of setup, filming, and breakdown. But limitations often shape the strongest work—and this shoot was no exception.

Built From the Ground Up

Every element of this production was carefully considered. From lighting design to atmosphere, the goal was to create the feeling of a live performance within a controlled space. With the support of a custom lighting setup and smoke effects, the studio was transformed into a stage—minimal, yet powerful.

The concept relied heavily on perspective. Multiple camera angles, varied focal lengths, and deliberate positioning created the illusion of a multi-camera production. In total, 35 takes were recorded—each one contributing to a final sequence designed to feel seamless and dynamic.

Precision in the Process

Without the use of a click track, every take relied on consistency and musical discipline. This added a layer of complexity in post-production, where each clip had to be meticulously synced to a master track.

Editing became a process of refinement—selecting moments, aligning beats, and shaping a visual narrative that matched the intensity of the performance. Slow-motion sequences, in particular, required careful attention, demanding both technical precision and creative judgment.

Crafted Under Pressure

What began as a challenging shoot evolved into a project defined by resilience, collaboration, and creative intent. Six hours in the studio, followed by an extensive editing process, resulted in a final piece that reflects both the effort behind it and the vision that drove it.

This is more than a music video. It’s a study in timing, atmosphere, and the pursuit of getting it right—frame by frame.
